CE Test

COMPACFOAM has been tested to the currently valid European standard EN 13163:2008 for building applications. This standard accurately regulates test performance and test frequency of the technical properties such as:

  • Fire behaviour
  • Dimensional stability
  • Thermal resistance
  • Compressive strength
  • Creep characteristics
  • Water absorption
  • Freeze / thawing


This standard covers the testing of all EPS products in the construction industry according to the latest technical standard identical to Europe. For example, all EPS insulation boards coming under foundations for usage also get to test their product. These extensive, continuous tests are divided into the following areas:

  • Initial assessment by a notified place
  • Ongoing standardized company production control


The notified place of the necessary original inspections of the mechanical properties is the OFI - Technology and Innovation GmbH, Vienna, notified body no. 1085.

The classification of fire behaviour was performed by the IBS - Institute for Fire Protection and Safety Research GmbH, Linz, state-accredited testing and inspection agency.



In addition to the standard prescribed tests, COMPACFOAM has undergone further rigorous testing:

  • Determination of compressive strength after freezing / thawing
  • Mono-axial compressive strength under elevated temperature
  • Dimensional stability under elevated temperature
  • Screw pullout strengths
  • Resistance against relevant environmental chemicals.


The CE mark guarantees:

  • standardized tests according to the latest European standard
  • continuously controlled company inspections

thus maximizing safety during use in practice.
